Sometimes you just get lucky. Sometimes you have perfect weather, perfect light, perfect kids and a fantastic session unfolds for you. No challenges. No hiccups. Just perfect. I had a blast with my three little amigos earlier this week. The last time I saw miss Leigha she was a beautiful tiny newborn, and now she is so grown up, toddling around and impressing the pants off of me! Her big brothers are hysterical! They were so well behaved, and ran around for me like pros. I had a hard time picking out my favorites. A really hard time. So here are but a few of the fun memories we made that morning. Thank you so much for the lovely time with your gorgeous kidlets, Meghan.
Do you remember when summer seemed to last absolutely forever, and you could play outside from dawn until dusk, stopping only long enough to have a quick bite at home and throw on some more sunscreen? I have often longed for the summer we enjoyed as kids...
As an adult, especially as a photographer, the summers seem to fly by faster than I can blink. The summer always seems so busy, so full of sessions, yard work, hiding away in the darkness of my office working on the computer for hours without seeing daylight! That is why I am relishing this summer, my first as a momma. Life slows down with an eleven month old. There is no closing myself in to work on a beautiful day. This is the first summer as an adult that I can remember spending so much time outside, so little time working, so much time enjoying the two months of the year that we get a reprieve from the nasty weather (especially this year!)
I am so thankful to Grace for giving me the gift of time. I can't wait to spend every summer getting to see through the eyes of a child again. I so look forward to balancing a fuller life of family with a little work mixed in.
We took Grace swimming for the first time a few weeks ago. I was shooting the swimming for the City of Fort Saskatchewan, which meant that I did not get to actually go swimming, but I did get to photograph her momentous first pool adventure with Daddy. Here are a few of my favorites. She started off by blowing bubbles all by herself. She really took to the water!
I have not photographed a wedding in a long time, but when I was asked to shoot the wedding formals for the daughter of friends, I was excited to spend the afternoon with a beautiful bride again (just like getting back up onto a bike after being off it for a while!)
Thank you for bearing the incredible heat with me, and making my job so easy. The love between the two of you was palpable, and wonderful to capture. I hope you enjoy a few sneaks before you are off on your honeymoon!
I know we need it so badly...but I wish it would rain at night and be sunny during the day. I feel so cooped up when it is stormy and gloomy all day long! I was disappointing on Tuesday when it showered all day (but happy for my garden) because I was afraid I would have to cancel my session with a great family I was really looking forward to shooting (I guess I should say photographing...hahaha)
We decided to play it by ear, and watch the weather for a break. And we were lucky to catch one! The rain held up long enough for us to have a great time out at the farm. Sitting on the ground was a little tricky, but nothing we couldn't handle.
Oh how great it feels to shed the winter layers and stretch in the warm spring sun. First session of the new season outside, and I am so excited to share my favorites. Jorja was a real little trouper in the heat, she behaved so well and had a fun time too. By the end she was definitely ready to be done, but so was I (I was melting!)
Look at those eyes! I just can't get over how beautifully blue they are. They are breath taking!
Jorja was singing us a song with some great actions.
I LOVE her expression! Like 'ewwww...Mom and Dad, gross!'
And the grand finale of photographing an almost 4 year old in plus 30 degree heat. So funny. We were done! Thanks guys, you are great!
Friday I got to meet 6 week old little miss Ashley for the first time. This little girl was so sweet for me, staying wide awake for part of our time together, and falling fast asleep for the other half of our session. I hadn't seen her big brother, Isaac, since he was three weeks old, and I cannot believe how much he has grown and changed. His gorgeous blue eyes sparkled with mischief, and he had so much fun jumping on the bed for me. Thank you so much for letting me photograph your beautiful family, Lesley.
Hooray for baby number three! I was so excited to meet this little man, and have been since I learned he was coming to join his big brother and sister! The little Mr. was cute as can be; ate, slept and let us move him around so much. It is always such a joy to work with you and your family. I hope you like some of my favorites.
And how could I not photograph two of my favorite little people too...
